ADD: What is it?
Attention Deficiency Disorder (ADD) can feel like an insurmountable hurdle at times. Additionally, inattentiveness and impulsivity make ADD a burdensome learning disability. However, there are guides who know the ins and outs of how to be efficient in handling it, like any seemingly intimidating mountain. For students with ADD, there are complex needs and we know how to sustain concentrated attention to ensure that your child receives the support they need. Overall, our San Francisco ADD Tutors are qualified to teach ADD/ADHD students.
Have ADHD? Our San Francisco ADHD tutors can help!
In some cases, a person has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) when they have moments of hyperactivity. A new CDC study in 2007 indicates that approximately 8% of students between the ages of 4-17 were diagnosed with ADHD. Consequently, the years 2003 and 2007 saw an increase in ADHD cases reported by parents, with about 22 percent of parents claiming that their child has ADHD. Popular treatments for ADD and ADHD are medicine and psychotherapy. For ADD and ADHD students, we have a natural method of brain training as a treatment.
Our tutors follow NILD therapy for our ADHD Tutoring in San Francisco
Many learners with learning disabilities are intelligent and in some subjects, they can excel and face challenges in others. In other words, like other students, students with learning difficulties have strengths and disadvantages in their fields. Our staff at Kivato Education Center are able to support students through the use of NILD Educational Therapy. NILD therapy consists of appropriate ADD and ADHD treatment strategies. In an NILD Instructional Counseling session, there are several core strategies used to enhance students’ academic and cognitive abilities. Core techniques such as Blue Book, Dictation and Copy, Buzzer, Math Block, and Rhythmic Writing are followed. Consequently, students learn multiple strategies, self-questioning skills, oral communication, and language skills to improve their focus.
Improve focus through Rhythmic Writing!
When building visual-motor integration, sensory integration, and directionality, Rhythmic Writing (RW) enhances visual and cognitive skills. It also explores students’ lack of attention, which can be damaging to their learning outcomes. The student traces figure ‘8s’ on a chalkboard in Rhythmic Writing, dictates the path he/she traces to the teacher, and answers mental math problems guided by the specialist in education. Rhythmic Writing also involves the creation of letters and cursive writing. This allows the student to think in various dimensions because the student needs to say the course he or she is taking while the educational therapist asks for basic math operations that stimulate and guide their brain to concentrate. To look at an example of what the core component of ET looks like, see the attached Rhythmic Writing video.
