Some people may experience hyperactivity in situations where others would not. Individuals with this tendency are said to have Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). A CDC study shows that around 10% of students between the ages of 2-17 have been diagnosed with ADHD in 2016. Medication and psychotherapy may be usual treatments for ADD and ADHD but we at ADD/ADHD Tutoring Kivato focus on a more natural way to treat ADHD using brain training techniques.
Our ADD tutors and ADHD tutors follow NILD therapy.
A lot of children with learning disabilities are bright and intelligent, doing well in some subjects and needing a little more help in others. In a nutshell, students with learning disabilities have subjects where they feel comfortable or uncomfortable like other students. In order to successfully address this, the ADD tutors and ADHD tutors at Kivato are able to help children by aiding the growth of their scholarly performance through using NILD Educational Therapy a program with treatment for children with ADD and ADHD.
Many strategies are utilized in an NILD Educational Therapy session to help students excel in school. We adhere to fundamental principles such as Blue Book, Dictation and Copy, Buzzer, Math Block and Rhythmic Writing. The above techniques advocate strategy development, thinking skills, verbal communication and language proficiency as well as ways to help children focus.
Rhythmic Writing Says, ‘Focus!’
Rhythmic Writing (RW) greatly enhances visual and thinking skills, and spatial awareness. It also covers the absence of focus in students which could hinder a child’s learning. In Rhythmic Writing, the student traces figure “8s” on a chalkboard, expresses the direction they are tracing to the tutor, and answers quick mathematical questions asked by the education specialist. Furthermore, Rhythmic Writing helps students penmanship and improve the legibility of their handwriting. It allows the student to think in more than one way as the child must say the direction they are tracing while the Educational Therapist asks simple math operations exercising their brain in focusing on tasks. See the attached Rhythmic Writing video to watch an example of what the core component of ET looks like.
